Woodman Inn (Town Centre, HYDE)

The Woodman Inn c.1960,

The Woodman Inn can be dated back to before 1872. It's address was 92 George Street and in the 1870s was sandwiched between a graveyard and a timber yard. It would appear that the Woodman Inn as with all properties on George Street closed and was demolished in 1974 to accomodate the building of the M67. The exact location of the former pub today would be on the central reservation on the M67 directly behind the bus station.

  1. I have read that sometime around 1900 it was kept by William Steele Shaw. Can anyone give me any information about what it would have been like then?
