A gathering outside the Bank Cottage Inn c.1953. |
The Cottage Bank Inn was situated at the Furnace Street end of Throstle Bank Street opposite the Flowery Field Hotel. It was a purpose built inn built in 1870 the year after Throstle Bank Mill was built and until the 1890s was the only building on Throstle Bank Street. Presumably pub trade declined upon closure of the mill and the pub closed in 1986. The Bank Cottage Inn was demolished in 2004. A private residence now occupies the site of the former inn.
