| 1886 map: Where was Smith's Beerhouse? |
Hattersley was little more than a hamlet when beerhouses were at their most prevolent but there's at least a couple I have no information for. I've given dates where they have been mentioned or recorded to be in operation:
Broadbent's Beer Shop (Cock Brow) 1841-1850
Horse Shoe Inn (Hattersley) 1828-1832
Smith's Beerhouse (Bunkers Hill) 1891
The Horseshoe in was believed to have been located on or around Chain Bar Lane , I believe. An ancestor of mine was a licensee of there at some point, apparently.
