Botanical Gardens (Flowery Field, HYDE)

The former Botanical Gardens c.1900.

The Botanical Gardens beerhouse was situated at Hyde Junction alongside a couple of cottages simply known as Hyde Junction Gardens. The Botanical Gardens was built onto number 1 Hyde Junction Gardens (number 2 was the red brick house in the photo) in 1850. This short-lived beerhouse seems to have closed in the 1870s and subsequently divided into two houses. The cottages including the former Botanical gardens were condemned in 1956 and demolished in 1968. The location of the former Botanical gardens today would be easterly side of the car park for the industrial units on Johnsonbrook Road.
