The Globe Inn was situated at 1 Back Lane (now 93 Lumn Road) on the north side of the junction with Walker Lane. As to when it was built I'm uncertain but it was certainly before 1872. It was a large free house and as to why it lost trade I'm not sure. perhaps it was simply too far of a walk from the centre of Hyde. Anyway it did close in 2007 and as of 2012 is being converted into two houses.
