Hallbottom Gate Inn (Newton, HYDE)

The Hallbottom Gate Inn was situated at 36 Talbot Road. I've seen this inn listed as Holebottom Gate (1850s)
and even Old Bottom Gate (1830s). It's feasible for this to be down to mis-translation but by 1870 it was certainly Hallbottom Gate. In 1964 the inn was demolished and rebuilt. The new pub was much larger as a large housing project had just been completed opposite the pun on Newton Moor. The Hallbottom Gate Inn closed in 2010 and was demolished later that year.
