Brunswick Hotel (Town Centre, HYDE)

The Brunswick Hotel in the 1950s.

The Brunswick Hotel was situated at 32 George Street. It opened in 1843 and had a large concert room in the back that became a music hall in the 1930s and later a venue for pop groups in the 60s. Up until the 1960s the pub was a popular "hop" on friday night pub crawls as George Street at the time could boast about a dozen pubs. The Brunswick was another casualty of road improvements and the building of the M67. It closed in 1974 and demolished. Today the location of the Brunswick Hotel would be roughly where the bridge of the A627 crosses the M67.
