The former Beeston Castle beerhouse c.1930. |
The Beeston Castle was a beerhouse and situated at what is now 284 Stockport Road at the junction with Knott Lane. The building itself dates from around 1750 and seems to have been in operation around the 1830s. In the 1920s it was a grocers and in the 40s and 50s a barbershop. The former beerhouse is still there with original stonework although it has been heavily re-rendered.
