Bricklayers Arms (Town Centre, HYDE)

The Bricklayers Arms c.1950s.

The Bricklayers Arms was situated on Reynold Street at the junction with Crook Street. The Bricklayers dates back to 1857 when it opened as a beerhouse. It became the Bricklayers Arms around 1917. The rather odd dorma roof was an addition made in the 1860s. By 1963 it had become unsafe and removed. Slum clearance and the redevelopment of the market in the 1960s affected the trade of the pub and the decline began. The Bricklayers Arms closed in 2002 and subsequently converted into apartments.
