Hare and Hounds (Town Centre, HYDE)

Hare and Hounds c.1900.

The Hare and Hounds was situated on Fernally Street close to the junction with Mottram Road. I've not found any records of it being listed in trade directories prior to 1900 but it's likely to date to when the other properties were built on the street around 1820-1830. The Hare and Hounds closed on new years eve 1913 and was demolished in 1984 when the building and all remaining buildings on Fernally Street were cleared for road widening. The site of the former Hare and Hounds today would be roughly the south face of Morrisons supermarket.
