Bush Inn (Town Centre, HYDE)

The Bush Inn in 2009.

The Bush Inn was located at 278 Market Street. Its address was originally 156 Hyde Lane (later changed to 56 Hyde Lane and then 278 Market Street). The Bush in was built in 1840 and until 1910 had been listed in trade directories as Bush Inn, Brush Inn and even Brash Inn (spelling mistakes?). The Bush Inn in the 1970s was known as a folk pub with weekly performances from folk bands although less folky bands played there in the 80s. At one time there was a restaurant upstairs. One piece of trivia - The first landlord in 1840 was John Haughton who gave his name to the street adjacent to the former pub. The Bush Inn closed in 2012.
