Dog and Partridge (Mottram, HYDE)

The Dog and Partridge (far left) c.1890.

The Dog and Partridge was situated on Market Street in Mottram. It dates back to at least 1789 when a debating class was held there. One of the debates was entitled "Has agriculture or commerce been more beneficial to mankind in general" (sounds quite interesting). Around 1895 the Dog and Partridge was demolished when a new row of cottages was being built. The cottages are still there - the exact location of the former Dog and Partridge being 65 and 67 Market Street.
